This one's for all of you Rachel Lutzker fans out there - and you know who you are! Whenever I check the stats for page views on this blog, I am totally amazed at the amount of 'hits' that I get from people doing searches on Google for Ms. Lutzker, who does the traffic broadcasts on WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News in Hartford.
Back on October 25th, I did a post entry about the overabundance of political commercials where I mentioned flipping through channels and briefly catching Rachel doing a traffic report. That post prompted a comment from Bulldog68, who stated:
"... you got to see Rachel Lutzker on TV in the morning - rrrrowrrrrr!! My secret (VERY secret) fantasy is for her to be doing her traffic report live from the back of my motorcycle! Vrrrroooooommm!"Bulldog's very secret fantasy, of course, became a secret no more as that post has become the entry that has received more 'page hits' than any other thanks to the legions of dedicated fans that Rachel apparently has from all parts of the country.
Thinking that perhaps her loyal fans were getting tired of reading the same old post that didn't even have a picture for them to drool over (I'm sure that most of the people are of the male persuasion based on some of the parameters of the searches!), I felt it was my duty to post something more about Rachel - not to mention I figured this would be a shameless way to increase the number of visits to my blog!
To that end, I emailed Ms. Lutzker the other day at WFSB and after briefly introducing myself and explaining the phenomena of the Google searches, I asked her what her favorite Christmas song was for use in a future blog entry. Rachel was gracious enough to answer my email and the following is an excerpt from her response:
"Interesting you should ask about my favorite song ... being that I work for a radio station I am surrounded by holiday music and I enjoy all of it. My favorite ... The Waitresses, "Christmas Wrapping". However, I am Jewish so while I love the whole holiday season, I don't really listen to Christmas music at home. But with my boyfriend being Catholic and spending holidays with his family, I certainly enjoy the entire holiday."With the hundreds of holiday songs out there, I had completely forgotten about this one and couldn't even remember how it went until I came home and called it up on Napster. Oh yeah! Duh! I like this song! The song's title, "Christmas Wrapping", is a pun on late lead singer Patty Donohue's talk-sing delivery of a song about being single on Christmas Eve - which is something that I'm sure Rachel Lutzker never has to worry about for if things ever go wrong with her current boyfriend, I'm sure I can get her a list of interested guys at American with my daytime dispatch partner Boukie being right at the top! (He was pretty disappointed to learn she had a boyfriend but how could she not for crying out loud?? Look at the woman!)
So there you have it all you "Rachel-ites" out there - the favorite holiday song of your favorite traffic reporter! Thank you, Rachel, for being kind enough to answer my email and also for all of the 'hits' on my blog! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Best wishes for a terrific New Year!
