"Bah Humbug! No, that's too strong 'cause it is my favorite holiday ..." ~ Christmas Wrapping, The Waitresses, 1981

If you stopped by looking for news on Rachel's move to Fox61 from WFSB-3, please click over to this post for information from Rachel herself! - added by Linda, 12/13/2007

This one's for all of you
Rachel Lutzker fans out there - and you know who you are! Whenever I check the stats for page views on this blog, I am totally amazed at the amount of 'hits' that I get from people doing searches on Google for Ms. Lutzker, who does the traffic broadcasts on WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News in Hartford.

Back on October 25th, I did a post entry about the overabundance of political commercials where I mentioned flipping through channels and briefly catching Rachel doing a traffic report. That post prompted a comment from Bulldog68, who stated:
"... you got to see Rachel Lutzker on TV in the morning - rrrrowrrrrr!! My secret (VERY secret) fantasy is for her to be doing her traffic report live from the back of my motorcycle! Vrrrroooooommm!"
Bulldog's very secret fantasy, of course, became a secret no more as that post has become the entry that has received more 'page hits' than any other thanks to the legions of dedicated fans that Rachel apparently has from all parts of the country.

Thinking that perhaps her loyal fans were getting tired of reading the same old post that didn't even have a picture for them to drool over (I'm sure that most of the people are of the male persuasion based on some of the parameters of the searches!), I felt it was my duty to post something more about Rachel - not to mention I figured this would be a shameless way to increase the number of visits to my blog!

To that end, I emailed Ms. Lutzker the other day at WFSB and after briefly introducing myself and explaining the phenomena of the Google searches, I asked her what her favorite Christmas song was for use in a future blog entry. Rachel was gracious enough to answer my email and the following is an excerpt from her response:
"Interesting you should ask about my favorite song ... being that I work for a radio station I am surrounded by holiday music and I enjoy all of it. My favorite ... The Waitresses, "Christmas Wrapping". However, I am Jewish so while I love the whole holiday season, I don't really listen to Christmas music at home. But with my boyfriend being Catholic and spending holidays with his family, I certainly enjoy the entire holiday."
With the hundreds of holiday songs out there, I had completely forgotten about this one and couldn't even remember how it went until I came home and called it up on Napster. Oh yeah! Duh! I like this song! The song's title, "Christmas Wrapping", is a pun on late lead singer Patty Donohue's talk-sing delivery of a song about being single on Christmas Eve - which is something that I'm sure Rachel Lutzker never has to worry about for if things ever go wrong with her current boyfriend, I'm sure I can get her a list of interested guys at American with my daytime dispatch partner Boukie being right at the top! (He was pretty disappointed to learn she had a boyfriend but how could she not for crying out loud?? Look at the woman!)

So there you have it all you "Rachel-ites" out there - the favorite holiday song of your favorite traffic reporter! Thank you, Rachel, for being kind enough to answer my email and also for all of the 'hits' on my blog! Happy Holidays to you and yours! Best wishes for a terrific New Year!

Well, you weren't kidding when you said you'd bust me for my earlier comments on Ms. Lutzker! I had NO idea that my comments would generate so many "page hits" - and I don't even know what they are, or how they work. I hope I didn't do anything inappropriate that would cause harm to your blog.

As for her favorite song, I'm not so sure I've ever heard it. I'll have to look it up. Props to Rachel for being able to see two different "sides of the coin" when it comes to the holidays, and the individual faiths of her and her boyfriend. Looks AND brains - wow!

BTW, now I'm REALLY jealous of you for being in actual contact with Ms. Lutzker. I'm trusting you not to tell her about my comments on 10/25 (unless she reads your blog - GASP!!) Of course, if "Mrs Bulldog" ever were to leave me for Harry Connick Jr. (she ADORES him!), then the motorcycle offer would still stand - hee hee hee!

  2. Well thanks Linda, not only do I get a great morning wake up by watching the traffic report....umm, I mean news, but I get surprised to see a great pic in your blog. Although, if it doesn't work out with her boyfriend, I highly doubt I'd get a chance with her. She is way above my league. We're comparing little league to the majors...lol. One can daydream though.. After doing a google search for images and finding nothing I have a great idea. You should start a Rachel Lutzker fan club website. you can then link to your BLOG and we can have a Rachel fix!! 021

Thank You Linda. I think I speak for the majority of the MALES at our place of employment when I say that Rachel really gets our day off to a great start. She is always happy and has a big smile on. We don't mind sitting through Scot's weather report to see her. Again Thank You Linda.

Rachel, if you ever want to do a remote traffic report, I have a perfect spot. The intersection of Rte 32 and Rte 82 in Norwich.

  5. Oh geez.... now Bouk has that picture set as his desk top!!!

  6. Wow...she is a cutie. Makes me wish I could get Hartford TV.

Its a darn shame that she has a boyfriend.

I met Rachel last year in Meriden at a WHCN / new store opening. As cute as she is on TV with that knockout smile, she is unbelievable in person. In her tight jeans and boots, (she was a bit shorter than I expected), she really was something else. I talked to her for about ten minutes. Would love to meet her again.

She is very attractive, wow. Any idea how old she is or how tall she is?

  9. Anonymous10:18 PM EDT

Met her at a local apperance once a couple of years ago. She was kind of stand offish.

AJ & Chaz on WPLR say that she looks like a line backer. But maybe they are mad cause she won't come on their show.

In her defense maybe she can't as she works for the river.

Thanks for visiting!
