Finally I decided to try to think about a song that contained the word ship either in the title or in the lyrics and I remembered that one of my favorite songs, The Impossible, by country singer Joe Nichols contains the word ship. What a delight to find that the video was actually shot on board a ship, too! Dilemma solved and at the same time I get to share one of my favorite songs with you!
"Unsinkable ships sinkOh, and for those who are sitting here scratching their heads in amazement that a woman who plays Guitar Hero and listens to the likes of My Chemical Romance, AFI, HIM, and Mindless Self Indulgence also listens to country music, all I can say is - diversification is a wonderful thing!
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen
Happens just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never underestimate
The impossible"
Here's hoping your Manic Monday is in ship-shape condition and Mo, can I request a more seasonal word for next week, please?? Something like stockings or tinsel or wrapping or evergreen or garland or gingerbread or ... !!
Joe Nichols...(wistful sigh)... I remember back when he was just starting his career. His manager at the time was renting space where I worked. Joe and his guys used to "jam" in our lobby. He's a really nice guy and really knew how to send us office ladies into a tailspin.
ReplyDeleteI love this song!
what an awesome post for MM , Linda!! Have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteHere's a ship song you might like. Amanda McBroom's "Ship In A Bottle"
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like a ship in a bottle
Lost in a corner on somebody's shelf
Shipshape and unborn and perfect and useless
A copy of someone who could be myself
Somebody made me they put me together
With patience and loving and pieces of string
Caught on a crepe-papier ocean and never
To feel the waves wash me or hear the wind sing
And I wait for the heart of a little boy sailor
To come break the bottle and help me be free
Cause how can I know if I'm floating or sinking
If I don't take my chances on the wind and the sea
Carry me down to a river that's peaceful
Set me to sailing and wish me God speech
And I'll find my way to the blue of the ocean
The wind on the water is all that I need
And a man with the heart of a little boy sailor
To shift with the tide and come sailing with me
And then I will know if I'm floating or sinking
And I'll take my chances on the wind and the sea
I get the drift (pardon the pun) it's about SHIP right?
ReplyDeleteAn excellent post, Linda.
ReplyDeleteScrabulous is being troublesome tonight.
The Enterprise Christmas Party is now running!
Never heard of this guy, but I don't do country. I thought you did well with the word ship. Have a great MM. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy manic monday
ReplyDeleteDiversity is good. :) And also, I'm getting used to you surprising me so much so that it doesn't surprise me anymore. It's just you. :)
ReplyDeleteYup. I like diversity. Sometimes country music gets on my nerves a little. But I definitely like to look at Faith Hill.
ReplyDeleteUhm...I meant I like Faith Hill's music. Yeah. That's it.
Happy MM!
That is a very good song. I didn't even think of this one! It does seem a bit odd to see here, though. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, Linda.
well Hallelujah and pass the potatoes!
ReplyDeleteThe woman finally mentioned a song and singer THAT I KNOW!!!
wow! I was beginning to think it would NEVER happen!
terrific song deary.
have a good week.
Well, I've never heard of him or the song - but I do like the words! I'm very eclectic with my choices in music, too. I'm trying to like country for my hubman but I was in choir all of my life and it's difficult to listen to them do what I was told not to...But paradoxically, I like AC/DC and they scream their head's off! Go figure...
ReplyDeleteI've heard this...but never saw the video...nice.
