I fully understand why some bloggers choose to use the word verification function as lately I've found myself deleting unwanted comments from quite a few sources (I especially find it distasteful when some inconsiderate boob leaves a link to a penal enlargement website on a Line of Duty Death post - shame on you!). I had even considered reactivating it myself but then knowing how much trouble I've been having with it, I didn't want to put any of my potential commenters through that same problem. After all, like all bloggers, I love comments!
What's a blogger to do? Is anyone else having this problem and if so, what do you do? Also, if I stop by to visit and don't leave a comment, please understand that it's not because I didn't want to - it's just that I couldn't though trust me - I try!
I'm with you on this one. I have done up to five and six tries before I could get the message to go. It's really frustrating. I so hear you. What's even worse is doing a meme like Wordless Wednesday and trying to get through 100 people and almost everyone has word verification. I just hate it. Have a great evening Linda. Big hug. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I can't get the word in three tries, I give up on it. If the person has an email address in their profile, then I'll drop them a note to tell them how much trouble I had.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had that problem but sometimes I just can't make the darn things out. I know they're supposed to look twisty but sometimes I can't tell "L"s from "I"s or "J"s and I end up guessing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had too much trouble but some of the configurations are awful!
ReplyDelete~~~Blessings~~~
I can't stand those things! Make it as easy as possible for people to leave comments. There's Askimet to keep out spam, so down with those squiggly, unreadable, annoying things!
ReplyDeleteYa think I don't like 'em? ;)
No problems so far, but then I don't get around all that much. Word Verification sucks in general gotta be a genius to figure out what they say some times. Happy Day to you!!
ReplyDeleteI did not have a problem on other blogs and got spam just once on mine. I do not have it on my blog, it's just slowing people down :o)
ReplyDeletewell you surely know how much i hate it. i have whiddled it down to only a few blogs that i visit with it any more. want me to go away? turn on word verification. and if i don't get it the second time, pffft. i'm gone! it is the WORST invention in the world...

I haven't had any trouble yet, but I don't visit all that many blogs.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bee. Not that I'm in a huge rush, but it's such a pain.
Do I sound whiny? Sorry. Just tired!!
sometimes they are so jumbled that no one could read them, I skip a lot of comments
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to not stress over them - I use them as a "typing test" for my fingers... but some of them really burn my bootie! I mean, why do we need vvwwvvuqqggjil in italics all squished together just to leave a freakin' comment?!? Okay, so maybe some stress is leakin' through...
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have trouble figuring out what the letters are... Three times and then I pass...
ReplyDeleteIt's a pain!
Blogger word verification frequently gives me problems and prevents posting my comments on any Blog that uses Blogger word verification.
ReplyDeleteBlogger comments and problems with Blogger word verification was one of the major reasons for switching to WordPress. There is no reason why Blogger can't fix their commenting system to be more user friendly by filtering out spam comments, and replacing all their comment options with the Name, e-Mail, and address fields.
It sometimes prohibits me from commenting b/c it's such a pain and my time blog hopping is so limited. It's a pain in the arse!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one. It has been driving me crazy lately.
ReplyDeletethere are a couple places I comment on a LOT who have verification and it drives me crazy...
ReplyDeletemakes me want to smack hackers and spammers upside the head
