Creative Photography Contest - Up in the Air

I've decided to once again give Roger's Creative Photography Contest another go this week as I'm nothing if not stubborn! Well, no, that's not exactly the reason - though it does play into things a bit! I really enjoy Roger's weekly contest as it gives me a great chance to check out photography by other bloggers who participate in the contest - like last week's contest winner, Bond, from The Big Leather Couch, who submitted this great photo of fireworks that he took. I've been trying to get some decent fireworks shots but haven't had much success at all but Bond took a beautiful shot and definitely deserved to capture last week's win!

I was up in the air for what I wanted to submit for this week's entry but then it dawned on me that I had taken some rather interesting shots while I actually was up in the air on my trip to California this past May and that perhaps one of those might be usable.

I've chosen this shot that was taken from the window of my Frontier Airlines flight from Denver, Colorado to Sacramento, California; I believe we were somewhere over Utah at the time. I was sitting by the bulkhead for this leg of the trip so this picture is looking back towards the engine and catches just the tip of the wing of the plane. Even though I'm not too keen on flying, I do love the view of the earth from 36,000 feet!

Good luck to everyone who participates in this week's contest! If you'd like to view more of the contest entries then be sure to click on over to Roger's Creative Photography Contest blog and check out the linkies!

  1. Nice crisp blue - and why does your engine look cleaner than mine? I love airplane shots, too! I'm not playing this week, but I wish you great success!

  2. I love it! I took a similar shot once from a SouthWest flight over the Rockies. My first flight ever.

Very creative! Can't wait to start judging this week's competition. I love getting to see them all.

  3. Love that angle, I always end up sitting right next to the wing. I am glad your stubborn Linda!

Thank you for your Creative Photography submission.

  4. I like it. I think you should win...

Who should I talk to about that? :)

  5. Beautiful blue sky. One would never know you don't like to fly...this is a great shot, Duchess Linda!

This is a great 'out of the window airplane' shot. The sharp focus and color makes this one really stand out. Well done.

  11. Great shot, Linda! Keep up the great photo work there.

  12. You know me with these sky shots, and your submission is great! The bluest of blue skies await you as you are at the threshold of space at 36000 ft...

  13. Gorgeous photo. I love the composition and the colors of the clouds and sky. I love everything about it.

I'd vote for you if I could. Beautiful photo as always but this one really does stand out as one of your finest.

  15. Be glad the airplane windows were clean! You got a really sharp, clear photo - ought to win, for sure!
I'm a sweaty-palmed flier but for some strange reason, I want to sky jump. Weird, huh...

  16. Now that's a nice clean window ... what airline was it ...

  17. I've only flown a couple of times, but it always seems so peaceful above the clouds. Beautiful photo.
