"Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again"

For some reason when I woke up yesterday I had this song stuck in my head so I decided I just had to post a video and share it. I don't know if it's because when I watched the weather forecast the night before they were talking about rain for Monday or whether it was because I had written yesterday's post about Sunday remembrances and this song refers to "leftover memories of Sunday".  Either way there it was and it went through my head all day even returning after I had listened to other songs.

For those of you too young to remember this song that became lodged in my head, it was recorded way back in 1971 by a group called The Fortunes, an English band that was formed in Birmingham in 1963 under the original name of The Cliftones.  This particular song only made it to #15 on the American charts but I remember it fondly from my youth (yes, I said youth, I was only 12 when it first aired!) and it just always struck me as the perfect Monday song.  Even better than The Carpenters' "Rainy Days and Mondays".

I'm sure everyone has suffered from one of those random songs that pops into your head for no good reason from time to time and then you end up singing bits and pieces of it all day long.  As a matter of fact, I know that Mo had "The Copa Cabana" stuck in his head awhile back as he wrote about it on his blog and then I had it stuck in my head all day - thanks, Mo!

How about you?  What song has stuck in your head recently?

  1. I love that song! I was 17 when it came out, according to your release date. Yikes. I was graduated, working and planning my wedding. I would love a do-over of that particular time in my life...

I always have songs in my head. My family is very musical, so I was raised on music appreciation and any given moment or feeling will usually conjure up a musical memory. Everything from classical to country!

it's nothing inidicative of anything going on, just a random song that popped into my head...

It's now running trhough my head again today...

"we are young... heart ache to heartache ..."

  10. I love this song and now it's stuck in my head. That's a good thing though. It could be a terrible song stuck in my head. Have a great day in spite of that weather forecast. Big hug. :)

  12. We have a High Pressure front hovering over us, so it's clear and cooler and low humidity here - just loverly!
But it's keeping the rains of Fay to the south - which wouldn't be a bad thing except we're short on rainfall again (third summer in a row! ~ at least I don't have a Garden Of Weedin this year!)
    cheers

  14. You are aging me! I remember this song from tenth grade at Penney High School in East Hartford. The song is fine, if a slightly overproduced Pop tune.

In my head is 'Since You've Been Gone' by Aretha. 1968 and seventh grade.

    Thanx for the memories!

  15. Recently, it's that stupid song for "Free Credit Report.com," the one in the seafood restaurant, so "you don't end up selling fish to tourists in tee-shirts!" ARGHHHHHHH.
And I love songs about rainy days - they're my very favorite kinda days.
