Ten things you wish you could say to TEN different people right now:
- Enough already!
- Would it kill you to at least drop me an email to let me know how you are?
- Stop calling, I am NOT going to answer the phone!
- The hamper is right outside of your bedroom door.
- Are you going to let me borrow that or not?
- Why do you always ask me to make the dessert?
- Don't eat the sand, eat a worm (well, okay, so that's not to a person but close enough, right?)
- You really need to get over yourself.
- So ... about that profit sharing ...
- "The" is, in fact, a word that most people use in a sentence and is acceptable to use on the radio, too!
- I had my tonsils out when I was 22 and couldn't speak for two weeks afterward.
- I think Sean Connery is damned sexy.
- I cry watching sad movies or reading a sad passage in a book.
- I have three brothers - Mark, Alan, and John. My first husband's name was Mark, my second husband's name was Alan, the guy I love most in the world is named John.
- I was the Class Secretary of my Senior Class - Windham High School Class of 1976.
- I get choked up watching a parade, especially when marching bands go by.
- I worked at McDonald's for just one day and never went back again even to get the paycheck.
- I am related to the suffragette Susan B. Anthony on my grandmother's side.
- Even though I don't sing very well at all, I used to sing in church choir when I was younger.
- Above all else, have a sense of humor.
- Be able to carry on an intelligent conversation.
- Enjoy watching the occasional "chick flick" with me!
- Romantic little gestures are a definite plus.
- If you're either Seth or JM just smile at me or send me a cute text message!
- Don't play games unless they're Scrabble, Cribbage, or something along those lines!
- Enjoy a nice slow dance and candlelight.
- You can have me at 'hello' as long as you're the right man saying it.
- Why on earth did I say I'd cover that shift for _______________?
- Where is my economic bailout?
- How did I end up with such a slob for a daughter?
- How is it that I work all this overtime and I'm still broke?
- Is it time to go home yet?
- When is my next day off??
- Do I even have days off???
- Brush my teeth.
- Plug in my cell phone.
- Turn on the sound machine and set it for 'thunderstorm'.
- Worry about a plethora of things both real and imagined.
- Wish I didn't have to get up so early in the morning!
- Roll over on to my left side.
Oh, and speaking of hearts and men, today is the birthday of someone that my heart still cares a great deal about so just in case he still occasionally pops in to read (and I'm pretty sure he does though he'd never admit it) may I just say a very happy birthday and I hope that the coming year brings you all that your heart desires. Stay safe and yeah, I still miss you.
I enjoyed reading this and learning more about you, Duchess Linda. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat Mark, Alan, and John story is amazing! Coincidence times three.
I get choked up watching a parade too.
I can't sing a note, but also sang in the children's choir at church.
I was class secretary in 1976 as well, but it wasn't high school. :-(
Thanks for not tagging me, I'm way behind on doing two memes. Guess I shared a little about myself anyway.
I'm sending you a hug whether you want one or not.
ReplyDeleteAnd no dungeon fruitcake for you!
P.S. I'll bet you sing better than you think. Amanda is musically inclined. She gets it from somewhere....
i'm still in the dungeon! yikes... there is no cake in here and not even a christmas tree.

Very nice blog! I actually learned a few things about you I didn't know already! Wow! That meme seemed like so much fun, I just might answer these questions, then e-mail you!
ReplyDeleteAs for the man you care about - God, I wish I could make your most heartfelt wish come true. It literally brings a tear to my eye to see someone in this "place", and do you know how hard it is to make a bulldog-biker cry??? Just remember, you have the biggest support network of anyone I know, because whether you realize it or not, you are LOVED, dammit! So many folks in cyberspace & in REAL life gravitate to you like perverbial moths to a flame - why? Because you emit warmth, sincerity, and the capacity to love that would fill a fleet of tri-axle dump trucks!
Know what I like about you? You resemble a battleship! Yep, a battleship! Why? Hard as steel on the outside, all armor-plated with bristling guns, ect...but on the INSIDE (where it is thought to count), you have life teeming within: camaraderie, cohesiveness, intelligence, and direction! You have a purpose, Linda, and not to be the "dishrag" you sometimes think you are! A real purpose in life.
Well, that's enough rambling from a bulldog-biker & former Navy ROTC cadet who likes to see his words on screen. Just thought you should know - your presence enriches my life & the lives of everyone you know. BTW: I may not be Seth or JM, but I'm gonna smile @ you every chance I get! ;-)
That bulldog is a cool cat.
ReplyDeleteYour presence in the blogosphere and in real life enriches my life as well!
Love what Patti just said..."Your presence in the blogosphere and in real life enriches my life as well!" She's so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI heard that Bee. What are you doing out? You're supposed to be catching rats down there. Now git!!
ReplyDeleteMe likes bulldog!
ReplyDeleteI use Picasa - and it's free! YAY! I thought you were using it, too! http://picasa.google.com/
If money and time were not issues, which they SO are, for Christmas I would buy myself a new DSLR camera with all kinds of lenses, Id's sign up for a photograhy course, buy new photo editing software and a membership to the best gym within driving distance and my own personal trainer. Oh! And a trip to Italy for me and my 3 SisterDears!
It's a good job you didn't send it my way, as Mimi already had, but it might be too time-consuming for me.
ReplyDeleteThat was a bittersweet post, Linda.
ReplyDeleteI can totally see you talking to the Lizard and Amanda in the same voice!
Many of my answers would be amazingly similar to yours.
Sending HUGS and FRUITCAKE

ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to #6 and #9 in nine things about yourself.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading all that stuff about you Linda. x
Sean Connery is damn sexy...wink!
ReplyDeleteMust be we are all kindred spirits at heart... I read a lot of ME in your answers too... very nice post... thank you
ReplyDeleteFor my once monthly comment I will just say this.
ReplyDeleteIf the popper in pops in and reads this post and maybe the comments, hear this:
How could you pass up on Linda? Buffoon!
Lol, the things that cross your mind probably cross everyone's mind, lol.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely not a meme to send to a guy, I barely made it through with just reading, we don't have a large attention span, and the part....where was I?
ReplyDeleteAh-ha! I caught the tag this time Linda, I saw Meme and I figured I'd better check, lol. It's an interesting one, so it should be fun. Have a great day, and I'm sure I'll talk to you sometime this week...
