Looking at the Sky on Friday

Lookingatthesky

Normally I might be sitting here asking myself "where did the week go?" but I'm pretty sure I know that most of this week went by while I was lying in bed recovering from the double whammy of back issues and the flu. Ah well, at least February is going by fast which is fine by me as it's about near my least favorite month and I'll be happy to see it be gone in a just a little over a week. I've got my fingers crossed that it takes this nasty winter weather we've been having with it and maybe we'll start seeing the promise of Spring!

In the meantime, it's Friday again and that means it's time for Tisha's Looking at the Sky on Friday meme. Unfortunately, even though we had some beautiful sunny days earlier in the week (albeit cold ones) I haven't had a chance to get outside with my camera and take any pictures in awhile but as I was leaving to go to work today the sky caught my eye as I walked out the door and I snapped a few pictures with my cell phone camera. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know - I've got a perfectly good Nikon sitting in the house just begging to be used and I'm taking pictures with my cell phone!

As you can see, it was definitely a mixed bag of clouds that we had overhead in Norwich yesterday and even though when I left for work at 2:45 it was fairly warm, all that changed sometime during the evening and at one point it was so windy that the snow that had started falling was blowing sideways across the roads and past the windows at work! By the time I left at 11:00, it was downright cold again. Ah well, I believe I've heard a time or two that in New England if you don't like the weather - wait a minute!

Hope everyone has beautiful skies overhead for your Friday!

  1. We say that in Florida too, especially during rainy season - which basically equates to hurricane season. We are prone to a torrential downpour for 5 minutes followed by rainbows in sunny skies for the rest of the day.

I don't see you on Mr Linky
the reason I'm asking is because I linked an hour or so ago and just went back and I wasn't there

imagine that!! I'm invisible - maybe we're invisible together?

  6. Hi Trisha, those sure are pretty New England Skies. I miss them and the snow that falls at the whim of nature, especially when I'm out and it is snowing lightly, just enough to cover the recent traces of humanity. (I lived in Manchester, NH, in the early 60's.)

Happpy Sky Looking, those guys at Alcatraz wished they had a pad like this one!

BTW, if there is any of that apple custard pie left I'll take a piece. Thanks. Oh yes, my dr won't let me eat pecans anymore.

  7. Very pretty blues Linda - I'm a big fan of your photos!

Are we twins??? I know we both share a love of photography, but I think we're going to the extreme lately, because two weeks ago, I suffered with a pinched sciatica and was in severe pain - Immediately after I recovered from that, I woke up with the flu and suffered with that all last week!!!

  8. Pretty skies. Much nicer than the overcast we've had most of the week. Yep, another one hoping for spring. ;-)

  12. Great shots. You can't even tell there from a cell phone. My cell phone pics. never come out good like that. We had about 3 inches of snow here overnight too. Winter isn't over yet unfortunately. Thanks for stopping by mine. Happy Friday!

  15. I'd say that your phone takes pretty good pictures there Linda! If that were my phone, we'd be straining to figure out that it was a tree. :)

  16. Linda, your skies look much better than mine and we're only one state away from each other... HA! :)

  17. The skies over the Nutmeg State always have as the one constant: They are always prone to change - never a static sky around here!

  20. I love the first photo, those branches added a cool touch to it!

It's very hot in my country, mostly clouds and a whole lot of sun showing off lol.

  21. I can't imagine my cell phone taking photos that clear! Good choice!
I love taking photos now because once the summer hits we won't even be able to tell we're in the foothills. Our air gets so dirty you can't see the sky for the haze.
    Glad you're feeling somewhat better!
    How's Amanda???

  23. I am so ready for spring I just can't stand it!!! My nose is stopped up and I think it's just decided to stay that way 'till Spring. *sigh*

...that was sort of a babble when I came here to look at your beautiful skies! *LOL*

I think that I see a few breaks in the clouds there somewhere...it's coming soon, the end of February that is. :)

    Thanks for playing along,
    Tisha
