I've Got a Question - You've Got an Answer

Rumor has it that it's summer and even the calendar proclaimed it as such on June 21st but you'd be hard-pressed to believe it here in New England where a lot of us are beginning to think that somehow the country was spun around and we are now living in Seattle! The sun has been virtually nonexistent this year - or so it seems - and truth be told, it's getting a bit depressing - particularly after the brutal winter we went through.

Mother Nature occasionally teases us with a nice day, though, just to give us a glimmer of hope or a reminder that the sun is still out there - somewhere - doing what the sun does best in the summer so I thought I'd take a moment just to ask everyone -

What are your summer plans?

Personally I've been craving a train trip of some sort but that's probably because I've been taking way too many pictures of train tracks! Currently, though, there aren't any plans to go anywhere in particular or do much of anything except perhaps a short visit to see the cousins in Massachusetts while Jamie is here.

How about you? What are you up to this summer?

  1. The weather here is great, but sometimes I feel like summer is passig me by too because I work inside of a mall all day. It is horrible being the grown up ha ha. I long for those carefree days when I was growing up where I could play all summer, sitting by the pool, hanging out with friends, movies, roller skating, giggling about the boys....
    Sigh

  2. I've heard of this thing you call summer...it involves sun and surf though and we've got none of that here! :( I think they're messing with us too b/c the forecast keeps changing day to day.

That said, I'm going to the beach house for a week starting the 4th. It'd better be sunny or else! (Picture me shaking my fist at Mother Nature while I said that). Then I'll have a guest here for a few days at the end of July for 2 Sox games and another one on my birthday.

And hopefully, I'll get a job before August which is when my second stint on unemployment runs out.

  3. The weather has been pretty good in last couple of weeks in Ohio. There's been much more sunny days then the gloomy ones. And it's finally getting season-aly warm.

No plans for summer as we have the Med cruise in October. Just a few BBQs in the backyard I think. Oh and my graduation! ;o)

  5. Boating! What else. The weather is pretty warm here. Triple digits today. Oh well, this is California. I hope the sun comes out and stays for you very soon.

Thanks for the update on Amanda too. I was wondering how things went.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

  6. Playing catch up on google reader. First, my summer plans are slowly winding down. Most of our calendar was full for spring and early summer. I am photographing a wedding on July 4th, going to see Raymond the Amish Comic on July 11th and after that we are wide open until our annual trip to Pigeon Forge, TN at the end of Aug. I think this summer I will just lay low and enjoy growing a peanut! :P

So glad Amanda is doing well after the teeth extraction.

  7. It's still miserable degrees HOT here. My sisters tell me daily about the rain and cold temperatures up there. I'd love to trade, if only for a day or two.

I'm going to do some painting while my parents are up in MA for July and August. And more culling of clutter.

Sometime around the end of September is what I'm waiting for! I'm visiting my sisters, having a mini-reunion with a bunch of high school chums over a mai tai and Chinese food and rumor has it that I'm meeting a few blogging buddies! :-D

  8. I get the idea that summer has passed us by this year. We've had a new tv and car. I guess that's a highlight.

  9. It's been gorgeous here today - clear skies, sunshine, 25C. I'm hoping it will be the same on Friday because I have a day off and we're going to York on the train. Sunday will find us on the East Lancs Railway. We are going to Abersoch in Wales for 5 days on the 27th July, then another train trip to the Cotswolds on the 8th August and another train trip Settle to Carlisle on the 19th August! Is that enough train trips for you Linda? LOL

  10. Going by the weather here in North Carolina, it is definitely summer! Temperatures have been in the mid-90s for several days now. We are getting rain regularly, so that's a good thing. We don't want a repeat of the drought we had a couple of years ago.

As for summer plans, I'm going camping several times. That gives me time to get the camera out and click away. But the bulk of my vacation will be taken up with a trip to my parent's in Illinois. I need to help them get lined up for some senior services. Not really a fun vacation, but I haven't been back there in a while.

  11. We'll probably be preparing for a New England autumn in our airstream. Kinda playing the summer by ear... all hinges on my health and hubby's work.

Glad to Amanda is doing well. Versed is a good thing!

  14. I'm going camping. I used my vacation days to camp. Most of the campers from my group have chosen to wait for cooler weather so the summer trips have been more intimate. Florida summers are kinda unbearable for most. I do miss the rowdiness of the group camping but with the smaller groups it is way more relaxing.

  15. No specific plans... just enjoying the sun and the warmth (sometimes too warm).

  16. We don't have specific plans. We'll see Harry Potter in a couple of weeks. Then it's basically just a series of day trips through the rest of the summer.

  17. My plans are to work and keep my kids busy and SEPARATED.
Divide and conquer is my motto.

btw, it's been 100* here three times in the past week.
    Ugh. wanna trade ?
