"Direct"ly Speaking

A few years back, when I still lived at the house on the side of the hill, I received a couple of pretty good Direct TV Deals so opted to go with them rather than standard cable. There was a lot more variety with the Direct TV Packages than their was from the lone cable company that we have here in the Norwich area and the price was a lot better at that time, too.

The only problem I ever had with my Direct TV was in the winter when sometimes the snow would accumulate on the satellite dish and distort or even block the signal; at those times there would not only be snow on the roof but snow on the TV, too! Other than that, though, I really liked it as I got some great channels that I knew I couldn't get on basic cable.

When I moved to the new house this past January, I opted to go back to cable because even though I had been a loyal customer with my phone company for many years, they weren't willing to give me any of the great rates that they were offering to new customers (which included Direct TV). Instead I could get a package deal through my cable company that combined all three services I needed - TV, phone, and internet - at a good rate locked in for a year. I'm hoping that when the year is up they'll renegotiate a good deal or I may find myself looking for some good Direct TV Offers - again. If that's the case then maybe this time I'll qualify for some of those great "new customer" deals they offer.

  1. TV deals seem to me a great deal like telephone deals, which seems to me a great deal like Health Insurance deals.

Which is to say NOT a great deal for anybody. Why don't they just have one good price for everyone. It's one of those things that make me crazy.

  3. I've always had cable and usually paid a resonable price for it. I've just never felt the need to switch.
