Last week for
Looking at the Sky on Friday I posted a picture that I had taken from the small turnout on California State Highway 50 just as you make the turn that brings you to an amazing view of Lake Tahoe. From the very first time I saw that view, I thought it was one of the most spectacular of all and try to get back there as often as I can when I'm out in California. Honestly, showing you pictures of it here is only a tease as to be their yourself is 1,000 times more phenomenal and gorgeous.
For this week, I have two more pictures that were taken from the same vista point the last time I was there - May 6th, 2009. My friend Cyndi and I had taken a drive to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains but the lure of Lake Tahoe was just too strong and I ended up driving all the way up to the lake stopping all along the way to take pictures (and thereby driving Cyndi pretty much nuts!) - still, I'm pretty sure you can see why! As I told her, she lives within driving distance of these sorts of wonderful views whereas I have to fly 3,000 miles to see them in person. Not being able to do that all the time, I have pictures - lots and lots of beautiful pictures ...

Speaking of lots and lots of beautiful pictures, you can find just them with more gorgeous skies from all over at my friend Tisha's blog and this week's edition of
Looking at the Sky on Friday. Stop on by if you get the chance!
OMG..these are wonderful shots, I can see why you try to get out that way, I would too!

I just love this area. Years and years ago, my first husband and I went to Tahoe every year for the oil producers convention. While he was at meetings, I'd wander around taking in all the scenery. It's absolutely one of the prettiest places in CA.
ReplyDeleteYour photography catches it, too.
You really know what you're doing...
~~~Blessings~~~
I've never been there but sure would like to visit the area. Problem is I might never want to return home. (OOPS! Only kidding, honey, in case you're reading this!)
ReplyDeleteI am seriously losing words to describe you photos. Terrific...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! I love how blue the sky looks. I just want to drink it in. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually have one today too.
With views like that no wonder you keep going back. Fantastic photos.
Those views and skies are magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI agree that coming around the corner for that last shot you posted is indeed breathtaking. I've seen it hundreds of times, but it never ceases to amaze me. Excellent choice for today.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day and weekend Linda. Off to the boat for us. Big hug. :)
What a fantastic drive. I'll have to keep it in mind for the next time I am in CA.
ReplyDeleteThe White House
beautiful photos, thanks for all the support linda.
ReplyDeleteI have never been there, but it is truly beautiful. Breath taking. I can only imagine how much more it is in person.
ReplyDeleteI have been there, once, a long time ago. I had forgotten how astonishing it is.
ReplyDeleteThis has the look like last week - rugged land, with the smooth road so close to disaster. Yet, if you didn't take the old US 50, you couldn't capture the stunning vista. The small mountains in the East are nice, but the larger an more impressive mountains of the west must be investigated by myself...someday!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! The fluffy clouds look so low I want to touch them. :)
ReplyDeleteMommy's Little Corner
WOW--just beautiful! thanks for sharing those photos!
ReplyDeleteyou certainly caught the magnificence of it all!
ReplyDeletey'all come back now...ya hear?
Stunning scenery!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I am late getting here due to the fact that I am hundreds of posts deep in my feed reader. But, I just had to comment on this post! You've done a beautiful job here. You really do have an eye for photography. Nicely done, Linda Loo!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support in LATSOF.
