The Timing Could Have Been Better

I was talking to one of my friends out in California the other day and doing the usual bemoaning about how if it isn't one thing it's another in life and how just when you think you've jumped all of the hurdles, more magically pop up in front of you. That brought up her recent experience with a San Francisco auto repair adventure she and her husband recently had when they were over in the Bay Area doing a little sightseeing.

It seems that the timing belt on their rather ancient Honda accord picked the middle of Lombard Street to crap out on them and they spent a bit of the afternoon not seeing the sights of the city but waiting to have the repairs made. Not exactly the way they were planning on spending he day but it could have been worse as even though anyone that has ever driven down Lombard Street could tell you, that's not the best place to have any sort of automotive problems pop up but at least when you're in the middle of a big city, it's easier to find a repair shop then it is if you're driving around in - say - the Sierra Nevadas which are always my number one choice when it comes to California sightseeing! Beautiful country - darned few repair shops close by!

Besides, it could have been worse - it could have been the brakes they had problems with!

  1. Yikes! Lombard Street is definitely not the place to have car trouble!

  2. Why do things always go wrong with cars at the most inoportune time?

  3. Murphy's Law was at work!

  4. Murphy's law is always in effect
so says Subvet...and he should know.
