A Brief Bit of Blue

Trying to think of positive things about all of this rather cold weather we've been having lately and one of the few that comes to mind is that the skies are certainly blue!

This picture shows the steeple at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Brooklyn, Connecticut which was built in 1771 and stands at the intersections of Route 169 and Route 6.  I've always wanted to see the inside so perhaps one of these days I'll be able to catch one of their two services a month but in the meantime, if you'd like to see more pictures of this lovely structure, check out this link to Colonial Meetinghouses of Connecticut.

While you do that, I'm going to go check out how things are going at work on this cold January afternoon!

  1. I'd love to see that church too. It's beautiful. I love all the windows and all that wonderful natural light.

It's cold and gloomy here and I'm ready for spring. Okay, I really want to go boating, but you already know that.

Stay warm and have a great day at work. Big hug. :)

  5. I don't think I've ever seen the sky such a deep blue color. I could stare at that color all day.

  7. When on the east coast I really missed those wide open skies of the west. Now in Washington its all cloud cover again... time to find a desert and stars.

  8. A silver lining to cold weather -- it gets rid of some of the yucky bugs... How's that for the bright side...

    Have a good week!

  9. Oh wow, you can't get more blue that that!! Today it was cloudy and snowing but yesterday we had that type of clear blue sky. Being gone for most of the day and only having my little old Canon PowerShot that fits in my purse, I didn't take any pictures. I love pictures of steeples against a blue sky like that, have taken many myself:-) xoxo

  15. What a beautiful blue. Does that mean the sun is shining too? I'll trade our 45* temps and our central valley fog for your blue sky and sun. I need to buy some Vitamin D... LOL

  16. The steeple is beautiful against the clear blue sky, Duchess Linda.

The church at first reminded me of our church, but it is much bigger.
And the sanctuary is even simpler.

  17. That's a beautiful church--and a great photo! The composition is perfect and that blue sky really makes the white steeple pop.

I used to attend a UU church. The pastor there was wonderful--very intelligent, thoughtful and funny. But then he left and, not being much of a church goer, so did I.
