A Saturday Short

I went for a quick walk down towards Yantic Falls yesterday to see what I could see and as I walked up the sidewalk towards the lower falls, something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye ...
Good grief - what is that? I know it wasn't here before all the flooding we had! Upon closer viewing I saw that it was a boat ...
Jammed squarely into the rocks in the middle of the waterfall ...
Hmmm, I wonder if the city is going to try to get it out of there?  It certainly distracts from the beauty of the falls but extrication looks like it would be pretty tricky - to say the least!
Anyway ... if you lost a boat during the flooding you might want to check at the bottom of the lower Yantic Falls!

  2. Eventually nature will run it's course and the boat will be freed naturally.

  4. Sure hope no one was in it when it went over the falls! lol It looks to be really jammed into those rocks too, don't think it will let go on its own any time soon. Maybe it will become famous like the "scow" at Niagara Falls?:-) xoxo

  5. That is funny! I'm pretty sure that's not my boat up there. It will be interesting to see if the city will try to "clean that up".
    Have a great weekend, Linda!

  9. Yes, a tricky extrication for sure.

Reminds me of a story I just heard last week. You've heard of the huge Flood of '55 that ravaged this area? Someone I know told me that there is a car lodged in the bank of the Naugatuck River. And it's visible from across the river.
That would be fun to find and get a photo of!

  11. No way!! Holy cow. That can't really be a boat, right? Who in their right mind would try that? I've seen that place in real life-and it's NOT somewhere I'd try to take a boat!!
