Will You Look at That? There's a Holiday Weekend Coming Up!

As someone who doesn't work "normal" hours, it's easy to forget when holiday weekends are looming like, for example, this coming Memorial Day weekend.  While most people are out grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, eating watermelon, and relaxing with family and friends, I'll be at work for 16 hours doing what I do best - telling other people where to go!

Amanda, on the other hand, is going to be spending the weekend down in New York City visiting her BFF and brain-twin, Sami.  I'll be putting her on the train Saturday afternoon before I head into work and picking her back up Monday night.  She's really looking forward to the weekend away not just because she gets to hang out with Sami but because it's also time for the NYC Zombie Crawl and the chance for Amanda to don torn clothes, slather herself with fake blood, and lurch her way through the streets of Brooklyn while looking for brainssss!

This will be Amanda's third zombie walk or crawl or lurch or whatever you want to call it as she participated in last year's NYC Zombie Crawl with Sami as well as the Zombie Walk in Asbury Park, New Jersey last October that regular readers of this blog may remember.  She always has a lot of fun and must be a pretty convincing zombie being that she's the "poster zombie" on Wikipedia!  Gee, could a mother be any prouder??

So, what do you folks have planned for the long holiday weekend?  Inquiring minds wanna know!

  1. See? That's why I love your blog. A post of your Zombie-daughter who is actually pictured in Wikipedia!!! immediately following a post full of Strawberry Shortcake, a cute kitty and a Wedding photo. I totally did not see that coming!

    Big hugs xo

  2. Wow, Wikipedia! She's famous already.

My plans include Lil' MAC's 4 mo. check up Friday, and a cookout on Saturday at my Dad's. He's making us all STEAK!!! Yum!

And Sunday is my brother's fiance's bridal shower. I have become the official photographer for all things wedding for them, so I am sure the shower is no exception. Monday I hope to do absolutely NOTHING but play with the baby girl! I don't do that enough.

  3. Can I have her autograph?

I think we're headed up to Illinois tomorrow for a weekend at Sue's. Andy got transferred to a rehab place and a few of Hank's sibs are coming down. We're taking the trella up and parking it at their place.

  5. Amanda's picture scared me. Just saying.

I can so relate to working while others are enjoying the holidays. I spent 25 years doing that.

I'll be at the boat. I know that surprises you, but that's where we will be. Unknown if we are going anywhere though. We go so much it's nice to just hang out and read.

Have a terrific day and week ahead. Big hug. :)
