Five on Friday - The Barenaked Version

Before I get into this week's Five on Friday set list I just wanted to take the time to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all of yesterday's wonderful birthday wishes both virtual and real.  I'm pretty sure I have never in my life received so many warm and wonderful birthday greetings from so many wonderful people.

From cards in the mail to being serenaded in the ambulance bay when I walked into work yesterday morning to hugs from my favorite paramedic (and another from one extremely cute EMT!) to lunch cooked on the grill by my supervisor and shared with some fantastic co-workers to all of the greetings on Facebook and those left here to phone calls from so many great people including a former co-worker who is majorly missed to lots of text messages sending greetings to the homemade flan that Chica brought into work yesterday evening to the cake that I came home to last night that Jamie baked (the very first cake she's ever baked!) I can't even begin to say how much it all meant to me.  I almost felt like Sally Field when she accepted the Oscar for Best Actress in 1984: "... I can't deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!"  And that's really a great feeling - once again my thanks to everyone for making my birthday a very special day!

Now, all gushing aside, for Travis' Five on Friday meme for this week I was inspired by a song that Jamie has on her iTouch and was playing in the car the other day - Pinch Me by the Barenaked Ladies.  I had forgotten how fun their music is until I was listening to it again and the thought popped into my head (and actually stayed there long enough for me to remember it!) that their music would make a great set for this week's Five on Friday.

For those of you not familiar with Five on Friday, it's a great meme that was started by the host of Trav's Thoughts that gives us the chance to share some of our favorite music with you and maybe inspire the liking for something new or bring back memories of something old.  It's a great meme and it's easy to play along should you ever choose to do so.  Just click on over to Travis' set for this week and check out the simple instructions.  After you listen to this week's song choices here, of course!

  2. Oh, I do love BNL! My nephews introduced me to them back in their early college days! I'll have to leave this up so I can listen to them a little later. I'm pleased to say I'm busy, busy busy with orders and quotes and I can't do music and numbers!

Jaime did an awesome job on your cake! What a great surprise to come home to (y'all)!

    Big hugs :]

Loved your post about the author's homes. How cool was Emerson's? tombstone, the big granite or marble? With the little rocks? Very cool!

Hope you had a great week!
