It's A New Dawn, It's A New Day ... It's A New Year!

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2011 - I hope it's a marvelous year in all ways for all of you!  I trust that no one overdid it ushering out the old and ringing in the new but if you did, you might want to listen to the above video with the volume set a little lower than usual!

Amanda, Jamie, and I had a nice evening eating too much pizza, drinking soda, and watching Toy Story 3 and Inception on DVD.  Toy Story 3 almost got me all choked up again for the second time (darn those toys!) and Jamie was totally lost watching Inception but I was able to pick out more things that I missed the first two times I saw it.  If you've still not seen it then please, get thee to a DVD rental establishment and do so as it's really quite excellent though - yes - it may hurt your head in places!  Honestly, if Inception doesn't win the Oscar for Best Special Effects, Best Soundtrack, and a handful of others then there's truly something wrong in Hollywood as Christopher Nolan and company did a truly outstanding job with every single part of that movie and Hans Zimmer did some amazing things with the music.  Srsly!

I am happy to report that before any other words escaped my lips this morning when I awoke I remembered to say "Rabbits, Rabbits, Rabbits!" three times and then followed it up with "White Rabbits!" just to ensure that I have a fantastic year no matter which superstition you believe!  Even without the luck of rabbits - white or otherwise - I intend on having a good year but it never hurts to pad things a little bit!

And finally, I've decided to start a new blog for the new year:  Picturing A Moment in Time is going to be my daily Photo Blog where I'll be keeping my verbiage succinct - honest!  I had thought about just doing a picture a day here on this blog but I tend to bog it down with all of my writing already so it seemed like a good idea to just start a whole new blog.   If you'd like to stop by every once in awhile and leave a comment or two, I'd definitely appreciate it!

Now, if you'll excuse me there are things that need to be done around the house as well as a final post to finish up on the wonderfully historic Hawthorne Hotel - some things don't change no matter what year it is!  I hope everyone has a fantastic start to 2011 no matter what you might find yourself doing today.

I forgot to say "Rabbit." Thanks for the good luck reminder! My grandmother would be proud of you.
It must be an old Connecticut Yankee tradition, dontcha think?

Congrats on the new blog, Duchess Linda. I shall check out the succinctness.

  4. What a fun evening you and girls had together. Excellent. We didn't overdo here so we feel wonderful this morning. Went to bed about 10 last night. Like we always do.

Inception is a fantastic movie and certainly well worth watching. It will also make your head hurt too. I agree about it raking in the awards too. Excellent film.

You and the girls have a great day and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Big cyber hug until I can give you a real on in February. :)

  5. "Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold."

Happy New Year dear Linda:-) I'm finally back to blogging and let's hope that I'm more consistent with it than I have been the last few months! Now that the busy season is over with, I should have more time.

I stayed home last night, eating some crackers and cheeseball I had made and watching tv. That's about all the exciting activity I could handle due to a miserable head cold! lol I'm glad that you could spend the evening with your girls.

I received Toy Story 3 for Christmas but haven't watched it yet. Never even thought of watching it last night! DUH! Haven't seen Inception either but have heard it's excellent.

Wishing you and yours the very best that 2011 can bring! xoxo

  8. My first word are usually "Good morning, kitties" or something like that. It's got the name of an animal in it, so that will have to do.

I haven't seen either movie, although my senior year college student loved Toy Story 3.

Following your lead, I started a blog for just my Photo of the Day thingy that Lisa started. I'm not sure how consistent I will be, but I do have a large number of photos which have never put on my blog or flickr and certainly have never been edited in Photoshop, so I have lots of inventory to pull from!

I have a feeling you'll be using PSE8 a lot more often than picnik now! :D

Here's hoping we all have a wonderful 2011! Big hugs :]

  12. Happy New Year, Linda!

Watching movies seemed like a popular way to celebrate the new year...I watched Sherlock Holmes and Money Trap with my Dad and my best friend.

  13. Toy Story 3 gets me choked up every time I watch it. *LOL* But, that's no surprise really! I haven't seen Inception, but from the looks of the trailer, I would probably be lost right along with Jamie. I STILL can't figure out how those guys robbed the Belagio in Oceans 12! *LOL*

Happy New Year, Linda, Amanda, & Jamie!!! ♥
