40 in 56

I've got a short week at work but not because I'm working any less hours, I'm just working them all at once. Double, double, single gives me my entire 40-hour week all packed into the space of three days. I'm sure I'll be wiped out come 3:00 p.m. Wednesday but then I've got four glorious days off - with the exception of a quick annual OSHA refresher Sunday morning.

So why the crammed hours this week? I switched shifts with a fellow dispatcher so he could go to a job fair in Virginia for a railroad company. Kevin loves all things train and his dream job would be working on the railroad. We've all got our fingers crossed that he comes back with good news. If not, at least he got to take an Amtrak trip so maybe that will be worth something ... maybe??

Speaking of which, in 10 days I'll be taking an Amtrak ride myself when I head south for my cruise - a vacation that can't come soon enough! Especially with the craziness of work lately. Speaking of which, I gotta go!

  1. Double, double, single, ack! I don't know how you do it! But 4 days off sounds good!

Speaking of Amtrak and the cruise, do we have a hotel room yet? :D

  3. Sounds like a nurses schedule. I have faith that once you keep your eye on the four days off you can do it.

Cruise time is coming soon. So soon! I can't believe it!

  4. I've definitely done that schedule before, and it's truly NOT fun. Oh well, keep telling yourself four days off, four days off!

  5. Keep your eye on the prize at the end of the shifts. You are such a sweetie for swapping with Kevin so he could make his fab trip, but that's just what you are! Look forward to seeing you SOON.

    Big hugs, honey...

  6. How nice of you to swap shifts. Makes everyone happy because he can pay you back when you have some ghost hunting to do.

Yes, we are leaving next Friday and spending the night in Sacramento (not far from the air port) and having dinner with several couples. Then Saturday morning we board our plane and head for Miami. Long day, but I'm so ready.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

  8. As Linda's fellow coworker and the reason she is working that crazy schedaule, I want to say thank you to her for agreeing to do it. I as well have worked that scheduale, ( and will when I get back), so I know that it is not fun. And yes just being able to take a train will brighten my mood.

  11. Leave it to you to switch shifts just so that your co-worker can go that job fair. You've got such a kind heart:-) I know you'll be exhausted but having 4 days off afterward will make it so worth it:-) Wow, your cruise sure is coming up fast. I wish I could be going too!! Take care of yourself my friend. xoxo
