I Keep Getting Derailed

Chester Tracks... or sidetracked or something as I have not been able to sit down and write the blog posts I've been meaning to write since Sunday and it doesn't look like I'll be getting them done any time in the near future either as I'm off to the Waldorf Astoria in New York City later today for a Media Event for the Historic Hotels of America that I was invited to, I'm working 16-hours in dispatch on Thursday, Friday has me driving up to Massachusetts to sit in on Amanda's final review for the year as well as bring home some of her worldly possessions, and then on Saturday I'm heading to Rhode Island for a memorial service for an uncle that passed away this past winter.  Whew!

I can say that at least I've been working diligently on arranging the photos that I took while in Chester, Vermont this past weekend and I think I've got them just about ready to go but now I need to find the time to sit down and put some words with the pictures.  Hopefully I'll remember everything by the time I finally get around to writing being as how my brain seems more like a sieve than a steel trap these days! If not, I'll guess I'll just make it up as I go and you'll never know the difference!

Oh, and speaking of differences, for those that haven't figured it out yet, I started a new blog recently that I'm hoping to use for my travel adventures called The Distracted Wanderer.  The plan is to put a small post up here on my regular blog along with a photo (most likely) as well as a link that will redirect you over to the full post on the new blog.  That's what I attempted to do with my post the other day - Shadows of War in Vermont - but I'm not too sure how well that actually worked.  Things may need some tweaking perhaps.  What do you think?

I'm going to try to reserve this blog for anything else that I want to blather on about whether it be the lousy weather we're having this year, what's going on with the kids, or wearing my heart on my sleeve like I so often seem to do - stuff that people who are looking for someplace to travel to may not be all that interested in.  The idea is that if I'm ever to be taken seriously as any sort of travel writer that I should have a "legitimate" travel blog - or at least that's the idea!  So anyway, when you see a post redirecting you to The Distracted Wanderer, I'd really appreciate it if you'd wander over and check out the post and, if you're so inclined, perhaps leave a comment or two.  You'll find the same history, the same photos, the same interesting places to go - just on a different blog!

Speaking of interesting places to go, until I can get those posts written about our recent weekend at the Inn Victoria - a weekend that was a lot of work but also a lot of fun and a lot of really good food shared with a lot of really good people - I'll leave you with a picture of Chester Depot.  Just like the rest of Chester, it's quite charming don't you think?  It's too bad they don't make buildings like they used to.  And it's too bad there aren't more hours in the day for me to get distracted with!

  1. For starters, I hope you have a fabulous time in Manhattan. That is so cool! Congrats, member of the media.

I haven't been visiting your blogs. Must catch up.

Maybe we should get together another Sunday? You have quite a week ahead, then the memorial service on Saturday? We have almost nothing on our calendar. ;-)

Love that depot. I've seen others that same design. Trying to remember where. haha

  3. Blather away, I enjoy reading all of your writing, travel or otherwise (and looking at your photos). I do agree that you need a seperate blog to be taken seriously as a travel writer. I will look for it in a minute. As for me, I am just not ready to do a seperate blog yet, but I do love to travel.
    Cheers,
    Kat
