Five on Friday - The BeeGees Version

There sure have been a lot of losses in the music world lately with some real talent going up to join that big angelic choir in the sky. Last week Robin Gibb of the BeeGees passed away at the age of 62 which made me stop and think about some of my favorite songs that the band put out over the years. Even though a lot of people associate the BeeGees with the disco era, I was a fan long before John Travolta ever put on a white polyester suit and danced his way into movie stardom and most of my favorite songs from the Brothers Gibb are from their earlier music. For this week's Five on Friday meme hosted by Travis at Trav's Thoughts, I thought I'd share some of those favorites which take me way back to my teenage years and early heartbreak and music that spoke to my soul - little knowing that as I got older, it was going to speak even louder!  Ah well, we live, we grow, and we learn though I'm still not sure how you mend a broken heart all these years later!

  1. Love the new header, Linda!
Bee Gees is one of my top five fave bands ever. Now I must scratch off seeing them live in concert from my bucket list. It will never happen :(

  2. Talk about Days of Our Lives. I go so far back with the Bee Gees that I remember when Lulu was married to Maurice. It is a shame when we lose great talents so young. Thanks for the reminder about how good they were.

  3. I listened to every one of these! ...although not in the order you've posted them.

Just last week, days before Robin died, I watched a 2 hour documentary on the Bee Gees, one of my first favorite groups. My teenage angst, heartbreaks and commiserations were serenaded by their music. Love their harmony and unique sound, even though I sometimes did not enjoy when Barry's falsetto took the lead. :)

And now only Barry remains. He's buried all 3 of his younger brothers. I wonder will he ever want to sing again?

And I remember the day I discovered I'd been mispronouncing Maurice's name all those years! Ha!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Seems fitting, as today would have been my 40th wedding anniversary. Oh, the commiserations!

  4. I love your new header too. Awesome.

I so love the Bee Gees. I've listened to them for hours and hours and hours over the years. It's a great tribute too.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  5. Great new look. Rest in Peace Robin.great tribute.Hugs my friend.

  6. You selected my very favorite BeeGees tunes. I did like some of their disco era music, but the stuff before that will always be most enjoyable for me.

  7. Loved this week's set, especially To Love Somebody.

Hey, Linda - are you still coming this way next month? Can you email me?
