A Friday Fragment

Even though it's the day after, today is going to officially be my Thanksgiving Day as Amanda and I head over to my Mom's house in Canterbury to gather together with family and have a nice day-after meal.  I'm really glad that my brother had suggested doing the big dinner on Friday this year or I would have missed it yet again while at work.

As much as I am thankful for the job that I have and know that it requires someone to be there at all times due to the fact that 911 never takes a holiday, I still rather hate missing all of the family get-togethers all of the time.  A gal can only be so noble!

So, while I'm off stuffing my face with all the goodies that everyone else had yesterday (and that I was fortunate enough to also have a bit of thanks to a good friend who apparently thought she was Martha Stewart this year!), I hope that you have a great Friday either working off the calories you consumed fighting with the crowds at the stores or just relaxing on the couch and enjoying the start of the holiday season.

  1. I actually enjoy Friday better as we can microwave leftovers. And have the pie we were too full to eat yesterday!

I have to share with you one of my sister's stories. One of her 10 year olds came into the bathroom where my sister was bathing her bishon and he handed her the phone. She asked him who it was and he answered "911". Yup. He was bored. He wanted to see if 911 was really a number. He had a little refresher course in phone etiquette and the important role 911 plays in many lives. His father is a cop (who also works 16 hour shifts!) so it's not as though they don't understand emergencies and emergency responders. Oh. And he's on phone restriction.

Enjoy your day! Big Hugs ♥xo

  2. I hope you have a wonderful family Thanksgiving today, Duchess Linda.
We didn't cook yesterday, we went to Ralph's sister's house. We are having Thanksgiving dinner at home tomorrow. A friend is buying the whole meal for us.

Very little work involved! Lots of warming up.

  3. sounds like a perfect day! enjoy... i am so happy they are doing it today! i KNOW how important those 911 calls are. i have had to make a few myself in the past few months and bingo, they are right there! love those emt's...

    smiles, bee

  4. Day after meal, that is cool. We have lots to be thankful for this year, espacelly me.

  5. Enjoy your day after Thanksgiving meal. I so remember working holidays and weekends. I did it for years too. I can so relate.

  7. Oh Linda I am so happy your getting some good old family time in and some good food. Have a great day. Love ya girl

  8. Hope you had a great meal.

  9. The kids will be back tonight for leftovers. It was all good, and it is the gathering that is important, no matter what the calendar says. Enjoy.

    Big hugs...

  10. Happy Thanksgiving! It's been too long since I popped in and I love the new look. Hope you had a lovely day and I'm thankful for having you as a blog buddy!

  11. My Thursday was stuffed with stuffing and my Friday was filled with, well...nothing really. I didn't do any shopping. Don't have the inclination (or the $$$ really).

Thanks for visiting!
