An Unexpected Day Off

We here in New England are once again getting hit with a Winter Storm (and it isn't even winter yet for cripe's sake!) for the second time in a week. Today's mess consists of snow, freezing rain, sleet, and maybe even some regular rain to top it all off. Makes for great driving - NOT!

The storm before this also consisted of snow and freezing rain which made for major nightmares on the roads as well so because of that and the two hills that I live on, I left my car at work Thursday and had someone bring me home in the four-wheel drive pick-up that we have at work for plowing and such. Even that had a bit of trouble making it up the hills here as the City of Norwich didn't seem to have done much plowing at all so I was glad that I hadn't tried driving myself. I've already had to leave my car elsewhere and walk up once and I get the feeling that I'll be doing that more times than not this year if this weather keeps up.

I brought my car home yesterday as the roads had cleared up nicely but was rather worried about getting into work again today and was debating whether I should have someone pick me up and bring me home just in case the roads were bad again. Turns out that I don't have to worry about that as the on-duty supervisor called a little bit ago and told me if I didn't want to come in today, he had my shifts covered and I could stay home. Well, I didn't have to give much thought to saying "YES!" so now I have the whole day ahead of me to work on my Manic Monday post, make my blog rounds, and maybe even think about how I'm supposed to write a post about a "groomsmen gift".

Of course, what I really ought to do is get off of the computer, brew up a nice hot cup of tea, and get my Christmas cards written out but do you think I'm going to be smart enough to do that? Well, maybe after another move or two in Scrabulous!

  3. It's hard to avoid the 'Noreasters' in this state. Only about two inches of sleet here, and I believe it to be above freezing now. Kid2 moved the snow on the driveway. It could be worse, as I have a couple of pictures from the famous blizzard of 1978, to post sometime. Talk about snow...

  4. I drove home from Ohio during the beginnings of that mess... I'm sure it really picked up steam once it went over Lake Erie.

Enjoy the day and make a snow angel for me. It's cold and sunny here in Nashville with no snow! :-(
