As summer descends upon us thoughts turn to one of the greatest pleasures of long, hot, lazy days ... no, not lounging poolside with a cool drink complete with a fancy little umbrella (though that's good, too) but ice cream!Being the stodgy New Englander that I am, I have always been a vanilla kinda gal when it comes to trips to the local Dairy Queen but I will branch out to something more creative when it comes to picking something out of the freezer section at the grocery store. Scanning the choices this week I found a new flavor that just screams summer! - Turkey Hill's Southern Lemon Pie. Mmm-mmm-mmm-good! And the best part is that the girls don't seem to like it so it's mine, mine, all mine - bwaahaahaahaa! Well, at least until the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge is gone and the Southern Lemon Pie is the only thing left in the freezer, at which point it will become an empty box and nothing but a tasty memory!
Dig into your own tasty memories for the answer to this week's question:
What's your favorite ice cream??

I don't eat a lot of ice-cream but if I had to choose it would be Strawberry ripple.
ReplyDeleteMy all-time favorite has always been butter pecan but that lemon sounds yummy. Where's those diet pills!
ReplyDeletemayfield lemon pie! yup, my very favorite! but you can't find it very often sadly.
ReplyDeletesmiles, bee
Maine Blueberry!!! Especially from Buttonwoods Farms. Now THAT says summer!
ReplyDeleteI like buying Turkey Hill because I like supporting smaller businesses.
ReplyDeleteOh...I don't much like sweets but Ice Cream-I LOVE!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite is cinnamon ice cream, but I also love lemon crunch, blueberry, and nothing beats a good vanilla.
Yum.
Cold Stone Creamery's "Coffee Lovers Only." It has roasted almonds, heath bar, and caramel. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteAny and all...really. I Love ice cream. I especially like it in those chocolate dipped cones! Mmmmm...
ReplyDeleteChocolate mint chip!
ReplyDeleteTurkey Hill that don't sound like no ice cream company how funny. West coast here ya know. Mine is Dreyers chocolate Chip Cookies dough and then I pour hot fudge on it yummy for the tummy.
ReplyDeleteI love Cold Stone's Birthday Cake Remix! It is sooooo good.
ReplyDeleteStrawberry icegream, or possibly lime.
ReplyDeleteoooh, why do you ask for favorites when life is a buffet? Hope I run into the Norcali version of Southern Lemon Pie. I'm sure I could eat a gallon or so.
ReplyDeleteWith little hope of that wish being granted, I'm torn. Coconut (anywhere, any brand), is it if I can only have one. I prefer the pure stuff, but the scarcity of plain coconut drives me to accept the sacrilege of additions such as almonds, chocolate, etc.
Rainbow sherbet is a close second. I sort of nibble on the raspberry, devour the pineapple and use adult restraint with the orange. I can play that same game with Neapolitan ice cream. Strawberry lasts but seconds in my presence, vanilla comes in second, and chocolate is eaten more as a seasoning.
Playing with food is fun, and I refuse to grow up.
Any Icecream with Turkey in its name somehow loses it's appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteGive me Ben and Jerrys cookies and cream any day...
LOVE ICE CREAM! THe Lemon Pie flavor sounds sinfully delicious but I'd probably have to hide it from my daughter or it would be gone before I had a crack at it!
ReplyDeleteOne of our favorites here - by Perry's - is (I think this is the name) Rocky Mountain Raspberry Road - or something along that line. It's vanilla with deep raspberry swirled about and big chunky chips of semi-sweet chocolate! I love another of theirs too with vanilla and cherry swirls with chocolate - also very yummy. In a standard sort of mode -give me butter pecan, or maple walnut - or strawberry or chocolate anything. Ok, just give me ice cream and I'm a happy camper!
Moose Tracks
ReplyDeleteDo you have Moose Tracks in your part of the world?
It's little bitty peanut butter cups in vanilla ice cream, with a big swirl of chocolate fudge.
I'm drooling now, thinking of it!

Have a great week!

Oh goodness... I'd probably have to say Mackinaw Island Fudge, since I always choose that when I'm going to have a cone from a shop. At home though, I'm happiest with a bowl of good plain old chocolate!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter rolo..... drool ;-) I rarely try anything else - it's not worth the risk when I could have something I know I love!
ReplyDeleteIce cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! We used to make it at home all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy all time favorite is Peppermint, the kind they used to serve in fine restaurants for desert in the little silver cups... It's hard to find nowadays.
Shame on you for making me think about my favorite Ice Cream! But since you asked, it's 'Tin Roof' from BlueBell. Love those chunks of chocolate!
