Creative Photography

My friend and blog buddy Princess Patti from The Late Bloomer Boomer has taken to participating in the Creative Photography Contest, which is hosted weekly by Roger of the Idaho Daily Photo, and I thought I would give it a shot myself this week.

I don't know exactly how creative my photography is but I've really been enjoying trying to take better pictures and sharing them with you folks in the Blogosphere so this seems like a good way to expand my horizons a little bit.

Speaking of horizons, for my first entry I thought I would use this picture that I took at Eastern Point Beach the other night when we were there for the fireworks. I think this was probably my favorite one out of the batch that I took. It shows the moon reflecting over the water of the Long Island Sound with the Ledge Lighthouse in the distance that you can see much better if you enlarge the picture.

Moonlight over Long Island SoundI'm not planning on winning the contest (at least not yet!) but this definitely gives me the incentive to keep up with my photography! Thanks, Roger, for this contest!

  3. Maybe the earth revolves around the moon. That lighthouse is the neatest I've seen, looking like a sea captain's house.

Linda, your instincts regarding your photos are sound. The creativity is on this moonlit night, the lighthouse cannot illuminate the channel better than the moon. This is a stunning shot - best of luck to ya!

  5. Duchess Linda,
I absolutely love this photo. You should get an (old-fashioned) print made from this and frame it.

    I hope you win!

  12. I really love it, too, Linda! The light in the foreground when you increase the size shows all the little diamonds of light in the water. I think you've got something here!
