Sometimes it's fun to scare ourselves. We go to scary movies, we read scary books, we sit around campfires telling scary stories, we look at our dwindling financial statements, we check in the mirror for gray hairs, we step on the scale ... well, some of those aren't so fun but I'm sure you get the idea! There's a lot of stuff out there that scares us with fears either real or imagined so I thought I'd make that the topic of this post and ask you ...
What scares you the most?!?

The answer can be something that scares you for fun like bungee-jumping or slasher flicks or rollercoasters or it can be something that scares you for real like spiders or heights or visits to the dentist - similar to the one that Amanda was going to in this picture here where she's still smiling because the dentist hasn't come in yet with that needle full of Novocaine!

Whatever it is, whatever that gets your heart beating a little faster or your palms to break out in a sweat or maybe your feet to start running in the other direction, let me know by leaving a comment - you're not scared to, are you?!?
It would be easier for me to list the things that DON'T scare me.
ReplyDeleteLife is kinda scary if you think about it too much.
I would have made a great ostrich, don't you think, Duchess Linda?
sometimes sarge drive a little (ha ha) too fast and i hold on tight. i also will not watch scary movies. and i'm not too fond of snakes either...

what really scares me is the idea that I may die before my kids are old enough to remember me.
ReplyDeleteummmm... nuclear war, tornadoes, death, fire, dentists, doctors, feeling trapped, feeling not in control, bees and other stinging bugs, hard shell bugs that crunch when you step on them, falling, heights, failure... oh there's more...way more!
ReplyDeleteI know, they make drugs and therapy for this...
Corners...corners scare me! Weird, I know, but it's true! I'm not talking about corners in a room or even in a triangle, I'm talking about roads. I HATE sharp corners in any road, and even some not-so-sharp corners. It doesn't matter if I'm driving one of the ambulances @ work, in my mini-van, or even on my Harley (especially then), I ALWAYS slow down (sometimes ridiculously so), and somehow "forget" to breathe until the turn is completed. For those of you who know it, you can see why I think Rte. 214 in Ledyard, CT is the scariest road in the state! There you have it...pretty scarey, huh?
ReplyDeleteLots of stuff scares me. I guess at my age I worry that I will get some awful disease that will rob me of my current quality of life. I think that scares me the most. Have a great day Linda. Big hug. :)
ReplyDeleteScary things to me -Dementia, not being able to drive myself and having to rely on my kids for EVERYTHING! -Snakes, lightning storms, icy roads, how Maya and Kurtis will fare as they grow up. Maybe the last one is more a worry than a scary thing though.
ReplyDeleteWhat scares me most of all is not a "thing" but a possibility. It's that I'll always be alone.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment it is McCain/Palin...

i don't like needles or tubes. anything that invades my body.
ReplyDeleteLois' list cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteYou know my irrational fear of bigfoot!
Others - cockroaches (yes, roaches instead of spiders or snakes...)
Also, the thought of me dying penniless and not having funds to pass on to someone to care for my kitties after I'm gone.
S.p.i.d.e.r.s. I run like a little girl when I see one :o)
ReplyDeleteI fear untimely deaths of my children or husband. It's pretty bad. I check them quite frequently to make sure they are breathing when they are sleeping...hubby included. I've been known to wake them from shaking them a bit too hard when they don't respond.
ReplyDeleteLosing MWM would be the worst thing that could happen to me - that scares me the most. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat scares me most is not knowing what comes next. When things are disorganised, that can be scary!
ReplyDeleteSpiders and clowns..I don't go hunting them down but they find me.
ReplyDeleteRodents. Hands down. Yuk.
ReplyDeleteSpiders...definitely spiders...big or small...they paralyze me with fear! Dentists come a close second!! lol xoxo
ReplyDeleteSnakes and Failure
ReplyDeleteSpiders and drowning.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared that my husband will die before me and I will be totally alone for the rest of my life. Sometimes when he's out I listen to the house with just me in it. Silence. I don't want to be alone. I don't want to die alone.
