This first picture is of the Park Congregational Church which sits on the corner of Broadway and Crescent Street right across from Norwich Free Academy where Amanda attends high school. It's a very pretty church which was established in 1784 and, if you've been a regular reader for awhile, you might remember this church from my Steeplechasing in Norwich, Part III post (which was inspired by Princess Patti's steeplechasing escapades in her part of Connecticut!)

This next picture is one I took of the Christmas lights in downtown Norwich near the courthouse and looking towards Franklin Square. Again, there's nothing spectacular but the Christmas lights strung across the road fit the theme of "light" quite nicely.

As I've said, I'm still experimenting and learning when it comes to night shots with the Nikon but I'm hoping that once I learn the nuances of light and exposure and all that good stuff a little bit better then I'll have some better pictures to show you. In the meantime, Travis said he didn't mind if I experimented on you folks!
Be sure to see who else lit things up over at the Manic Monday Meme and have a wonderful Monday no matter where you are or what you're doing!
The nighttime light shot of downtown is just so quaint! So homey! Brings back memories...
ReplyDeleteMakes me smile!
And the blues in the above shot... amazing!
You are very skilled with that new camera.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteI love shots at night of Christmas lights. Very inspiring.
BTW, love the selfie on the right with the camera! Too cool.
I love the church photo and the blue door! I can't wait until I get a new camera so I can attempt night shots!
ReplyDeleteNight shots are peaceful to me. Happy Monday.
ReplyDeletenice photos!keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue light! and the warm lamp post light
ReplyDeleteexcellent shots!
Is the flood light on the church also blue? It seems as though the windows have a blueish tint to them as well. Nice job. Light is most definitely a tricky thing when shooting. I've been reading up trying to learn a little myself. There's A LOT to learn. Baby steps for me, though. I'm still not venturing away from automatic much.
ReplyDeleteNicely done.
Happy Manic Monday ~ My Lights
Lovely steeplechasing and night photos, Duchess Linda.
ReplyDeleteThe Congregational Church is very pretty.
I also posted some night pix today of my experimenting over the weekend.
I especially enjoy old church buildings. You are becoming quite a good photographer....I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I really like the shot of the church. Something about the way the orangey light contrasts with the bright blue door.
ReplyDeletei also love that blue door! what a great idea! and norwich is beautiful...

Such beautiful lights... you are doing just great enjoying your new craft (photography). I just wish I could take a picture of what my eye sees - unfortunately, it's not always what the camera sees... LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat job Linda. You really are getting very, very good at photography. I'm enjoying it very much. Have a terrific day. :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are become very professional Linda, they really are!
ReplyDeleteCute. Both you and Mo managed to get a light post in your "light post"
ReplyDeleteThat blue door is neat. I wonder if Dr. Who is on the other side of the door?
Your camera was working well to display how light can work.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos and I am jealous of the night shots you can get with the new camera. I have one like that on my list of things to buy when I grow up ha ha
ReplyDeleteVery nice job with the night shots, Linda. I really like the way you composed the picture of the church. The angle works very well. Night pictures are not one of my strong suits, so I really appreciate the good ones.
ReplyDeleteThose lights over the street look just like the lights in Mags's photo!
ReplyDeleteThe blue door is great. The lights on the church have a wonderful blue glow.
The church photo is really well done. I wonder who thought about putting the flood light there? Was it done with beauty or safety in mind?
ReplyDeleteI like the church shot!
ReplyDeleteThe blue tint to the light on the church is really neat.
